Story

The Proto Nephilim was bred in an attempt to bring the Nephilim race back into existence. The creature turned out to be an abomination, so it was kept locked inside a container in the Bio Dome deep in the Maximum Containment Area. The inmates imprisoned in The Sanitarium were fed to it. [2]

As the Proto was a failed experiment, Pieter van Eckhardt ordered Kristina Boaz to kill the it since it was "far too dangerous to be keep alive". [3] Kristina failed him, when she couldn't kill the creature without the Periapt Shard that Eckhardt had: "It's half Nephilim. That makes it impossible to kill without your Periapt Shard." [4]

After being released when the power in the Bio Dome was shut down, the Proto Nephilim sneaked around the Sanitarium through the ventilation shafts killing guards and scientists. Kurtis Trent sets out to the Sanitarium and Maximum Containment Area in order to bring the power back on. He meets a truck driver, who drove all the way from Turkey to bring "death in five tons of stone" [5] - The Sleeper - to the Strahov. The truck driver also tells Kurtis about the Proto being on the loose. Kurtis eventually encounters the Proto in Maximum Containment Area and is forced to fight against it.

Strategy

The Proto Nephilim can't actually be killed by just shooting at it. It must be stunned a total of four times before Kurtis can strike it with his Periapt Shard. It's wise not to waste Boran X Ammo at all, so shoot at the Proto only when Kurtis aims at it. If Kurtis runs out of ammo, there is a respawning clip for the Boran X in the room.

After the Proto has been stunned four times, approach it and a cutscene, where Kurtis kills the Proto with the Periapt Shard, starts.
