The ladder is a common obstacle found in most Tomb Raider games. It usually helps Lara advance in the level by making some areas accessible to climb. In the games from Tomb Raider II to Tomb Raider Chronicles the ladders are basically parts of a wall which are climbable, and they are textured accordingly. In later games there are actual ladders instead of textured wall.
