Monoliths
Monoliths are a puzzle item in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
There are many monoliths standing around in Syria and Siberia. Lara needs to decode them in order to find certain Secrets, e.g. Coin Caches. To do so she needs a certain level of Language Proficiency. E.g. to translate the first monolith in the game, located at the Northwest Border of Syria, first visited in the Level The Lost Tomb, she has to have a Greek level of 1; to increase her Greek language proficiency to that level she has to find and examine at least three of the four Murals located in the chamber with the Monolith.
