Catacombs is a level in The Last Revelation. It can be reached from the Coastal Ruins. The original catacombs are buried beneath the Basilica of San Sebastiano in Rome. Catacomb structures were copied in many cities across the empire - famous examples also exist outside Rome and in Paris. The catacombs in Roman cities were also used as refuges for the Christian population, who were persecuted by the authorities and often could not live openly among normal Roman society. The Roman idea of catacombs would have been popular with the Egyptians, who were already used to the idea of mummifying and entombing their dead.
