Remark: This article describes the weapon Bow in the Reboot Games. For information about the puzzle item in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary, see Decorative Bow.The Bow is Lara's first weapon in Tomb Raider (2013) and makes its return in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
In the reboot the bow would be replaced by different models throughout the game; in Rise of the Tomb Raider on the other hand Lara can collect four different bow types which all have their own upgrade tree.

Tomb Raider (2013)
After escaping the Scavenger Den and emerging on the cliff atop the shipwreck bay, Lara finds her way into a part of the forest where an unfortunate Dead Hunter is dangling from a tree. Lara can grab the bow from his corpse and then use it to hunt a deer, her first kill.
Arrows for the bow are limited so Lara should not waste her ammunition and excessively grind for XP by shooting more deer, birds or bunnies. By using her XP to upgrade a feature called Arrow Retrieval, Lara can regain some used arrows.

Rise of the Tomb Raider
In the successor to the reboot game the bow again plays a vital role. Although Lara starts out with a Pistol in Syria, she later on looses all her Gear and Weapons in an avalanche in Siberia. She then has to fashion herself a new bow from the wood she finds in the Siberian Wilderness. This bow is for some time her only weapon.
She looses it later on when she is taken prisoner by Trinity and imprisoned in the old Gulag. There she finds the Recurve Bow. If she already upgraded the Makeshift Longbow, these upgrades are carried over to the Recurve Bow.
Throughout the game Lara finds some more bows that do not replace each other as they did in the reboot. Instead she can select her favourite at any of the Base Camps and upgrade them to her liking. She can, however, only use one bow at a time.
