Descending the pitfall consists of climbing, jumping and using levers to extend several platforms from the wall. These platforms eventually form a path leading rather straight to the bottom of the pitfall, where an Undead Knight waits. It's no use trying to shoot at him, just keep moving and avoid getting hit.
