The stone daises appear in Tomb Raider: Legend. It is unclear exactly how they work, but they appear to teleport the user into an alternate dimension known as Avalon. It appears that the daises are linked, because when one is activated, does the other, but in a different part of time.

In Tomb Raider: Legend
Lara first came across a dais when her plane crash landed in Napal when she was a child. Found in a monastory, Lara activated the dais by pushing a strange sword into it, although it was her mother who was transported to Avalon. The portal opened and blurred images from the future appeared, although nothing was distinctive enough to properly make out. Her mother removes the sword, and in a blinding flash of light, vanishes.

Her disappearence struck a terrible blow on Lara's father Richard Croft who took to travelling the country in search of a way to get her back. He must have been on the right track, however, because he was correct in his assumption that there was a second dais, discovered by Lara in Bolivia (first level of Tomb Raider Legend). She realises that it is activated using the sword that she used all those years ago, and sets about trying to find it. Soon, she realises that the sword is none other than the mythical Excalibur and when reforged, she takes it back to the dais in Bolivia. When she activates the dais, she receives a shock - her mother appears in the portal. Lara tries to alter the events of the past, but this proves impossible when Amanda tells Lara to remove the sword or it will explode. Thinking that these words are meant for her, Lara's mother wrenches the sword out, activating the dais and destroying both of them.

Other Daises
It seems that there were more than just the two daises. In level six: England - King Arthur's Tomb?, there is one standing before the body of King Arthur. Perhaps this is the direction that the developers want to take Tomb Raider: 8 in; sending Lara on a quest to find the others.

In Tomb Raider Legend, Richard Croft is the name of Lara's father as opposed to Henshingly Croft as it was in the previous games.

He was an archiologist, and traveled all over the world. From what Winston says, we are inclined to believe that he had quite a collection of artefacts. After the death of his wife, he traveled all over the world with Lara investigating archiological sites and ruins in search for a stone dais, similar to the one that had 'killed' her. During this time, he raised and taught Lara alone. However, he disappeared and was declared legally dead, although his remains have never been found. Even Lara unearthed human remains that could not be identified as his.
Dxtre3d is the name of an unofficial level editer developed by Turbo Pascal. Unlike the official editor, however, Dxtre3d is able to create levels based on the first Tomb Raider through to the fifth Tomb Raider. The official editor (released with the Tomb Raider: Chronicles PC game) only let players create levels based on the engine of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation.

History
Dxtre3d was created and programmed by Turbo Pascal, using a computer language called DELPHI, with the help of many Tomb Raider fans (see below). The second revision was released in April, 2005, following the success of the first revision. What came next was a flurry of activity, as new tools were introduced to be used in conjunction with Dxtre3d. These included TBUILDER by Iceberg for the creation of textures, and Pixstr2 by Raider Croft, used to customize objects. In August 2005, Turbo Pascal released a demo version of dxtre3d 3.0 Alpha. This spin off version was a 3D level editor designed for general game development with slightly different features.

Dxtre3d 2.0 features
The main reason for the success of the level editor was the fact that it was able to create levels based on all the different Tomb Raider games. Other features include:

* Improved texture rendering

* Taller rooms

* 2D map

* Diagonal walls (tr3, tr4, trc)

The demo for dxtre3d 3.0 alpha contains the following features:

* Portals for world level

* Grid system for accuracy

* World level exporter to 'easy to read' text file format

Contributors
As acknowledged in the manual to dxtre3d, there were many people who contributed towards the success of dxtre3d.

* Raider Croft

* E. Popov

* Roy Goldbold

* Dale Rickert

* Kelvin the Vagrant

* Iceberg

* Michiel (Aka TRWAD)

The Damned were once a group of people who signed up to participate in experiments being conducted by Sophia Leigh. The aim of the experiments was to immortalise the subject. However, they failed, and the subjects were presumed dead. As a result, they were dumped into the sub terranial areas of London. Their faces disfigured and their lives ruined, the Damned attempted to kill themselves. However, it was only here that they discovered the full extent of the experiments, for they were unable to die. So they are forced to exist in the depths of London.

In the Level Aldwych Lara will encounter two types. Both of them have a bat with which they will hit Lara. One of them has a burning bat, after Lara has been hit with it a couple of times, she will catch fire meaning they can be quickly fatal if there is not water around. In the following level, however, The Damned will become allies, much like the monks from Tomb Raider II. However, firing upon one of them changes this instantly.

Kurtis Trent is a new character in Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness (TR6). He crops up several times throughout the game, follpwing Lara like a shadow.

Biography
Kurtis was born on June 26 1972 in Utah Salt Flats in the United States.

He is an ex-Legionnaire and also an experienced warrior with limited occult abilities. He was raised as an initiate in an ancient order called the Lux Veritatis. But at the age of 19 he left to join the Foreign Legion, which he left in 1996, when he began freelancing with a variety of mercenary and semi-legal agencies under the direction of Marten Gunderson.

In 2001 Kurtis took on his father Constantin's role after the Alchemist hunted down and killed the last of the Order. Kurtis is the only one who is left of the Lux Veritatis, and is now on a quest for revenge against those that wiped out the Order and killed his father.

In the game:

Lara's first contact with Kurtis in the game will be in the Cafe Metro, where he is sitting at a table in a corner. He won't speak to her. Their next encounter will be in front of the Serpent Rouge, he is fleeing with his bike. Then Lara will see him again after the explosion in the Pawn Shop. He is sitting on a jetty, smoking a cigarette. Again she won't be able talk to him. Then she'll will meet him in the Louvre where he steals Lara's weapons and then both flee. Lara is captured by Bouchard's guard and Kurtis disappears. The next meeting with Kurtis will be in the Strahov in Prague. He will complain that Lara has made a mess and that he has to correct her mistake to turn off the power.

The player will then be playing Kurtis in two levels (The Sanitarium and Maximum Containment Area) After that Lara and he go seperate ways in an attempt to stop Eckhardt. Coming from the Vault of Trophies you will find that Eckhardt has captured Kurtis. You will both be thrown into a pit with a spider creature. Kurtis helps Lara to flee and then you have to fight against the spider creature Boaz as Kurtis in Boaz Returns. Kurtis is then stabbed by the boaz creature, and left to die. However, in the final cutscene, Lara only discovers his Chiragai blade on the floor, and a small pool of blood.

Fate:

There has been much speculation about the apparent 'death' of Kurtis, particularly among the female sex where he was most popular. Theories range from him being pulled out of existance to his body disintergrating. However, as Eidos initially planned to continue the Angel of Darkness story into two more games, it is a safe bet that he survived.

Fanfiction
Although one of the worse selling games of all time, Angel of Darkness inspired quite a lot of fanfiction focused around Kurtis Trent. Again, most interest attracted to him is from the female sex.
